There are many benefits to using a desktop application.

1. Data privacy: Most of your data never touches our servers or shared peer-to-peer using encryption.

2. Security: There is no single central server for hackers to target.

3. Better performance: Modern desktops and laptops often deliver faster local performance than shared web servers.

4. Lower upkeep cost: This lets us lower the cost of the app for you.

5. Product sustainability: We have significantly reduced tech debt by removing the cloud layer. (We will still keep your team and devices connected.)

6. Technology-agnostic: You can use any language or tool with WordPress, including editing photos in Photoshop or performing bulk changes with a Python script.

7. Ready for the AI era: You can run your own local AI models in RightPlace while keeping your data private.

However, being a desktop application also has a few drawbacks because it is not hosted in a cloud environment. These can be addressed with a WordPress client plugin and inexpensive persistent storage. We have designed the infrastructure carefully and securely.

We will support macOS and Windows at launch, with Linux support coming shortly after testing. Each developer on our team works on these operating systems individually.

Yes. Collaboration is one of our key integrated toolchains. We want our team to collaborate on most tasks we perform using RightPlace. For larger agencies with multiple users, please contact us for a licensing quote.

One license allows you to connect up to three different desktop or laptop devices.

Short answer, it depends. Due to current technical limitations of Electron, we are accepting requests for manually integrating extensions. We are working on multiple ways to overcome this limitation. Additionally, we offer built-in tools that perform just as well as some popular free developer extensions.

Our desktop application is essentially a Chromium-based browser. Opening more tabs consumes more resources. You can manage resource usage from the dashboard. When no tabs are open, the app can run in the background. We are working to further optimize CPU and memory usage.

You need to supply your own API keys to use the AI features. We like the idea of treating AI as a commodity—you pay for it like electricity. We don’t want to resell mere API calls.

However, we’re in the process of fine-tuning an in-house model for specific operations. We will have a separate pay-per-use pricing model for these in-house models.
